Morality - What do you think?

Is it right to deceive the people of eBay into thinking theyre buying something real when it is indeed fake - but QUALITY fake, in some cases better than the original. The only difference is the collector value.

What do you think yahoo?
Morality - What do you think?
I think it is wrong, simply because it is deceipt. If the description says something like %26#039;buy this Quality Fake item%26#039; then buyer is aware that although it is something phoney - but quality phoney, this is ok.

But to pretend and deceive a buyer is unfair and dishonest.
Morality - What do you think?
No. It%26#039;s not legal nor is it moral to deceive anyone for any reason.

A quality fake??? get real.

Better than the original? How so?
Reply:This is easy, if I say I%26#039;m going to kill you, you had best have your spiritual bags packed for where ever the trip will take you but I%26#039;m sorry, bang, your dead.

If I say that I%26#039;m selling you a cast of the late Albert Einsteins death mask, a copy made from the original, guess what, that is what you%26#039;d be getting. If it for some reason turned out to be a fraud, I%26#039;d refund your money and probably have some rather deep discussions with the individaul or parties involved with said sale to me.....

I used to live in Hong Kong, talk about a city of %26quot;Knock off%26quot;, Christ!, one time my future wife and I were walking down street in Kowloon and a older gentlemen offered me 2 Rolex watches if he could sleep with my then girlfriend, like she was my property to give away. There was a specific quality to my wife that had nothing to do with her bra size but lets just say it was a deal that neither of us was interested in REAL or FAKE, To this day we felt they were FAKE, she never brings up the issue, I do on certain occassions to tease her.

During that same trip we had an opportunity to tour a factory where oil painting were produced. 36 inch wide canvas stretched and stapled to walls moving around these widow less buidlings, level after level of canvas, with bamboo scaffolding allowing a person to work at eye level with each section of cavas, most were marked to 24 inches for US consumption, which meant those 24 x 36 starving aritst painting (Horzontal) were painted as a vertical, not sure it that makes any sense, sorry. My point, waht we watched was a steady stream of craftspersons who were good a one particular aspect of painting move from canvas to canvas and paint say, sky, another person house, boats, water, others using pallet kniefes and a finisher who seemed to be able to tie it all together, SIMPLY amazing, not copies of anything in partiuclar but mass produced, (hand made) starving artist painting. We they origianal? Yes, absolutely, were they done by a cast of say hundreds, indeed. Were they all signed by a differnt person using a phony name, YES.

There was a degree of quailty to the work simply becauce these people were skilled in the use and technique of using OIL paints and brushes. And I suppose looking back at this scene and the painters they certainly didn%26#039;t appear to be making big bucks so yes, they probably were %26quot;STARVING ARTISTS%26quot;. But they are not presented that way in the television commercials that seem to come around to various towns each year. We also were able to visit a smaller, studio where for a price you could have an artist, make a copy of an original oil painting, some looked pretty darn good, scale, size, aging techniques etc. and all signed as let%26#039;s just say %26quot;Monet%26quot;. Were they sold as originals? I certainly new where most of the real painting lived, and wouldn%26#039;t have paid a plug nickel for any of them and was actually quite angry at the level of this copy operation. I am an artist, have worked in and around art for the better part of 45 years. No, I don%26#039;t paint, except for my living room and dinning room walls as need be.

As Gertrude Stein said, A Rose is a rose is a rose.... well you get my drift. Where I come from my word is good as a barrel or two of oil in the palm of your hand. Principles I%26#039;ve practiced my entire life in all my affairs, well, yes, I%26#039;ve occassioned to cut myself a larger slice of chocolate french silk pie then I%26#039;ve given to my guests, aint%26#039; perfect.

SO, the quality of the product has nothing what so ever to due with the value of that product if that said product is a fraud.

PERIOD!
Reply:Meh..if it feels %26quot;wrong%26quot;, don%26#039;t do it. :)
